Shibastik talks tradition, hunting, teachings, youth workshops and hip hop
Hip hop artist, painter and workshop educator Shibastik joined Indigenous Waves last week. He talks about what he learned growing up, setting up camp, hunting, and how he has taken what he learned in the bush and applied it to youth workshops.
A member of the Moose Cree First Nation and the Bear Clan, Chris Sutherland aka Creealias the Shibastik is an accomplished painter, lyricist and hip hop musician. His music and art, deeply inspired by life in the James Bay Lowlands, create an awareness and appreciation for the land and Aboriginal culture, as well as an understanding of the Aboriginal experience, past and present. His connection to the land and the Creator are evident throughout his work.
